Part A: Cyber Bullying and Social Media Resources
I created a Pinterest Account to organize some educational resources concerning the topics of responsible digital citizenship, cyperbullying, digital footprint, online safety, sexting, etc. for grades 10 to 12. Click here to view my Pinterest Account.
Two strategies that I would use in the classroom to educate my students about the themes of digital citizenship and cyberbullying would be specific in class modules and current events case studies. The in class module would be specifically on the topic of digital citizenship and would include covering a wide range of issues such as internet safety, sexting, social networks, positive digital footprint, cyberbullying, etc. Key resources I would use for this type of module would include the video clips and interactive websites that I have organized on my Pinterest. The completion of this module would include covering a list of these resources and then completing some kind of summative project assignment that displays an application of the concepts covered. Maybe creating a GoAnimate video!
From a social studies perspective another great way to bring up this topic would be through a current events case study such as the case of Amanda Todd. Students would read some articles about the topic and then write a reflection on what role cyberbullying played in this tragic event and what could have been done by others around Amanada who were seeing things unfold.
Part B: Cyberbullying Message
Here is a link to a short animated video I created about an aspect of Cyberbullying. I used the free version of GoAnimate to create this clip. I created the clip to target grades 7 to 9. I also added this clip to my Pinterest account from which it can also be accessed.
